Collaborami
Designing a Service for the Municipality of Milan
Our team of six service designers from Politecnico di Milano collaborated with Milan Municipality, and other stakeholders, to looked closely at how the “Pact of Collaboration” program works in Milan. We created “Collaborami,” a service to help the city government support collaborations with groups of citizens. In this 4 month project, our goal was to strengthen how these groups of citizens organize can make public spaces better.

Why this Service?
Milan’s “Pacts of Collaboration” empower citizens and organizations to team up with the city to improve public spaces. Think community gardens, playground renovations, and local events! But these pacts face challenges like:

Limited resources hinder the formation and success of “Pacts of Collaboration.”

“Pacts” lack ongoing support and guidance from the city, leading to challenges in achieving their goals.

Low trust and limited awareness in the “Giallo” district hinder citizen engagement and collaboration.
That’s where our service comes in, and facilitate the complete process of creating and maintaining a pact of collaboration.
How did we design it?
While we followed the double diamond design process, our path to the final service wasn’t straight forward. We did a lot of prototyping and testing with different groups, and had to redefine our goals along the way. The reason being the people we were designing for had overlapping needs, and it took time to figure out how to address them all effectively.

What is the service?
